Pain Management: Beyond Medication

  • Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church 9920 Normandale Boulevard Bloomington, MN (map)

Exploring conventional and complementary approaches to help you feel better and live well.

Class summary

Chronic pain affects millions of older adults and caregivers, often limiting independence, mobility, sleep, and quality of life. While medications, including opioids, may be appropriate in some situations, they are not the only tools available for managing pain.

Join Dr. Kelly for an exploration of conventional and complementary approaches to pain management. Drawing from both clinical experience and emerging research, Dr. Kelly will discuss how factors such as inflammation, nutrition, nervous system regulation, and other whole-person approaches may influence pain and recovery.

Topics may include microcurrent therapy, targeted nutrition, Guggulsterone, and other integrative strategies that are generating interest among patients and healthcare professionals alike.

Whether you are living with chronic pain, caring for someone who is, or simply interested in learning about additional options, this session will provide practical information and a broader understanding of today's pain management landscape.

Participants will leave with:

  • A better understanding of how pain develops and persists

  • Insight into both conventional and complementary treatment approaches

  • Questions to discuss with their healthcare providers

  • Greater awareness of emerging strategies that may support pain management and improved function
