START Making a Difference

Long before START Senior Solutions had a name, my dad, Harley Bergren, saw its heart. He recognized it in Tracy Keibler, whose passion for helping older adults wasn't just palpable--it was unstoppable.

They met at church, where God often weaves the kind of connections that feel like they were planned long before we knew to ask for them. As it turns out, even before Tracy was born, our families lived across the street from each other. It was a detail they discovered early in their friendship, one that deepened their bond and seemed to affirm a divine orchestration at work in their lives.

When Tracy shared her vision to stand with seniors and caregivers navigating the hardships of aging, Harley didn't hesitate to step in as START's first donor. For him, it wasn't just a donation; it was an act of faith in a mission he believed in and a person he trusted. And for Tracy, his support was more than financial--it was a vote of confidence from someone who truly saw the potential of what START could become.

Harley is no longer with us, but his legacy resonates deeply in every life START touches. As I read the stories of transformation, big and small, in this book, I imagine my dad looking down, beaming with pride at the extraordinary work this organization has accomplished. From stabilizing lives in crisis to creating a future of renewed hope for seniors and caregivers, START embodies everything Harley championed: faith in action, advocacy with compassion, and a relentless commitment to the most vulnerable among us.

This collection of stories is more than a testament to lives changed; it's a reflection of what happens when one person's vision inspires another to step forward, and another, and another--until a movement is born. May these stories inspire you as they have inspired me to see the profound impact of standing beside those in need, offering not just help but the assurance that they are never alone.

For Harley, for Tracy, and for all who make START's work possible, this book is a celebration of what it means to say "yes" to the call of something greater.
